food-obsessed word nerd traveling the world. i enjoy playing board games, eating vietnamese sandwiches and wrapping gifts. i have a soft spot for animals, especially naughty black kittehs. ira glass and jon stewart rock my world. if i go without sunshine and kimchi too long, i wither.

Dear Susan,
I came across your wonderful blog after clicking through a few links in my bid to search for good restaurant critics in korea. I am aware that you’re no longer based there. But I thought you might be able to help me out with this major project I’m working on for my company.
I would be grateful if you could provide an email address so I could send you some info?
Yep, and this is def. not spam
thank you in advance and hope to hear from you soon!
Cheers from Singapore,
Cheryl

just to let you know your jokbal has gone viral. Well, maybe not, but the newest expansion of the metropolitician/feetmanseoul/seoulglow empire tips our hat to you: http://www.fatmanseoul.com

I wasn’t able to find an email or contact page – I just wanted to let you know about an Africa-themes photo contest I’m running and thought you might have some pictures from your Morocco trip that you might want to enter.
If you’re interested here are some more details:

hi… came across your site while searching for images of matadores for my son… you take beautiful photos and i was actually curious what kind of gear you use…
happy traveling!

skate,
thanks! i don’t use any hi-tech or fancy gear. i just have a regular point-and-shoot digital camera. it’s a casio exilim 7.2 mega pixels. i find that if i shoot everything i like, i usually luck into some good shots.

Hello!
I came across your site while I was looking for recipes of 떡볶이 and ever since, I have been vastly entertained by your blog comments.
My curiosity is killing me… I’ve heard of kimchi somewhere before but I can’t remember it exactly… something to do with bean curds? I don’t know! >.<”
Thank you for your time!

kimchi is pickled and fermented vegetables, usually the spicy cabbage version. you’ll find it at every korean meal.

where can i find banh mi sandwiches in seoul? i’m dying!
suddenly susan // June 18, 2009 at 4:28 am |
i haven’t lived in seoul since 2007 and i never found banh mi back then. you might direct your query to one of the foodcentric-korea blogs like fatmanseoul or zenkimchi. good luck!
